When it comes to hair and beauty products, I’ve ALWAYS been one to try new brands and new ranges, and shampoo-hopping is my thing! Jumping from L’Oréal to Kérastase to Aussie to TiGi Bed Head to Bumble and Bumble to KMS to Redken to Moroccanoil to Aveda and right back again… endlessly rotating on this never-ending wheel of different hair products, at the tireless attempt to find something to control this crazy greek lions-mane of hair I have the unfortune of having attached to my head.
Anyway, I have found THE product to top all hair products, and I just HAVE to share it with you today!!!!
So first up, I was looking for a sulphate-free shampoo. This is something I’ve been recommended for numerous reasons, one of the main reasons being that shampoos containing sulphates tend to strip your hair of its natural essential oils, and is absolutely terrible at holding hair colour, for those of you who have your hair dyed. Secondly, I wanted to treat myself to an Olaplex treatment for my hair, as I damage my hair WAY too much (heat, colour, more heat, more colour… my hairdresser is crying inside reading this right now – sorry!!) Anyway, this treatment requires you to follow up with sulphate-free shampoo to prolong its value, preventing the treatment from being stripped out your hair from all those vicious, evil sulphates I so happily used to massage into my scalp, so I thought I’d give the Kérastase Discipline shampoo and hair mask a try, and here’s how I got on!
Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidéaliste (Translation: the shampoo)
My verdict: This shampoo is just great! I know some higher-end shampoos do say to use just a little bit, and me being me always uses a whole lot more (…er yeah, did I mention I have a lions mane?!) but seriously though, when they say a little bit – they mean just a little bit, this stuff really does spread far, and froths up all nice and foamy unlike many other sulphate-free shampoos on the market today. Definitely a thumbs-up from me!
Kérastase Discipline Maskératine (Translation: the conditioning hair mask)
My verdict: Wow, I just LOVE this product!!!! Seriously, this one’s a real game-changer for me! This actually makes my hair feel like silk! It’s so, so soft and moisturising and leaves your hair looking super glossy and full of shine! This really does give you the whole “I’ve just stepped out of a salon” look. I couldn’t help but swish my hair and pretend I was in a hair commercial for a second there, ha!
So I used this mask instead of a conditioner, I know some people use a hair mask after a conditioner but really, there’s just no point wasting your money on both here, this does SUCH an amazing job!
Like the shampoo, you really don’t need much, this product stretches really far. I left mine on for between 5 and 10 minutes, I don’t wear a watch in the shower, so lets just say 7 minutes to be on the safe side. Obviously the longer you leave it on for, the more you’ll notice the effect on your hair. Personally, I’d say you don’t really need to leave it on any longer than 15 minutes, but that’s totally up to you. I think this product is just AMAZING and would definitely recommend!! I will absolutely, definitely, a hundred-million percent be buying this one again!
Score: 10/10 (and this isn’t me being generous – it genuinely is THAT good!!!)
