Red really seems to be the colour of the season right now! Everywhere I look, I see RED (and no, I’m not angry haha!) Personally I think red works better as more of an accent colour, some bright red heels can really make your outfit pop, a bold red lip, or perhaps a striking red blazer. A FULL red matching trouser suit however – mmm NOT really my thing… can’t say I’m a massive fan. Even some red matching co-ords/ matching separates are enough to push me over the edge.
I think red is such a strong colour, it can go one of two ways – it can look sharp, sophisticated and classy or… (and this is not in a good way)… WOAH blow-your-head-off red, which is so in-your-face you might just go blind! And to be perfectly honest there’s really not that much in between.
Anyway, whichever sort of look you’re going for, you’re sure not going to go unnoticed! So, today I’d like to share with you my Top 10 red pieces in the shops this spring!
Balmain Double-Breasted Wool Blazer
I absolutely LOVE this blazer! It’s just so beautifully cut, from the sharp shoulders to the gold button detailing, this piece screams sophistication. Simply dress down with a pair of skinny jeans and fresh white blouse, or dress it up with a pair with black tapered trousers.
Emma Pake Antonia Lace-up Swimsuit
I’m such a fan of beautiful back-detailing, and this swimsuit really does it for me! When you get over trying to forget the whole Baywatch look (it is quite hard!) this swimsuit is just stunning. The super thin straps and strawberry red colour look so elegant, and the back detail really draws your eye… Your tan-lines may look a little strange, but I think it’s totally worth it for this one!
Chloé Drew Small Leather Cross Body Bag
If I’m honest, I don’t think I’ve EVER found a Chloé handbag that I don’t love, and this one’s no exception! It’s modest, neat and dainty, and the perfect size for all your must-haves. A little red handbag is the perfect accessory to compliment any black and white outfit!
Kurt Geiger Horatio Lace Up Heeled Sandals
So I have a bit of a thing for lace-up shoes (heels AND flats – you’ll see later!) and these Kurt Geiger beauties are just LUSH! I love the feathered leaf design, it’s so unique. These heels would look great with a little black dress… or a white one too come to think of it.
Rare Scallop Lace Midi Dress
I’m not usually a fan of tutu dresses (they remind me of a combination of ballet costumes from when I was small / uni freshers week!) but this midi-length red lace tutu dress is really beautiful! I LOVE the eyelash lace, and again, the back detail is just gorgeous.
This dress is quite a bold look though, so I’d pair it with some simple ‘barely-there’ heels, quite like they have in the photo actually…
Topshop Red Crop Frill Jacket
Frills – don’t you just love them!! Well I certainly do anyway. This cropped jacket is just gorgeous, and can really dress up any outfit! I’m one of these people guilty of chucking on a basic cami and some skinny jeans, in an uninspired rush in the morning sometimes, but throw this jacket on top, and WOW your outfit has purpose! Consider this your Wonderwoman cloak, zero to hero in the flash of a jacket!
Stuart Weitzman Red Suede Pumps
As much as I love to live in heels, we all need a pair of gorgeous flats to rescue our feet from time to time, and Stuart Weitzman gives us just that. I absolutely love a pointy flat shoe, it makes me still feel reasonably smart without the added height! Paired with the lace-up ankle detail, and you’re on to a winner! These are definitely on my wish-list!!
ASOS A-line Mini Skirt with Scallop Hem
Scalloped hems have come and gone over the years, but I for one really love them. Especially with all the frills we had on the runways this season, I can see these really making a comeback!
Pair this skirt with a casual t-shirt for a more simple daytime look, or dress it up with some strappy heels and a sheer blouse.
Ralph Lauren Skinny Burnished Leather Belt
Add a touch of colour to any outfit with this basic skinny burnished leather belt. I love it’s mid-red tone and just how un-fussy it it. This is the perfect accessory for a monochrome look!
Victoria Beckham Flounce Sleeve Woven Top
This top is beautiful! I just love the contrast of the feminine frills against the sharp shoulders!! Personally, I wouldn’t pair it with it’s matching skirt, as I’m not a fan of matching co-ords, but that’s just me. I think with frills, it’s best to pair them with slimmer pieces, to avoid looking like your clothes are too big. Keep your trouser/jean length long with this top, as the sleeve length cuts a little short on the elbow, I wouldn’t recommend ankle grazers with this one. I’d pair this top with some slim-leg tailored trousers, black skinny jeans or a midi bodycon skirt.
